Week 4

This week the knowledge I gained was invaluable not only in this class, but in life and any other time I research any topic. Not only did I learn how to research and learn the proper key words to use, but also how to search for e books, how to download them, and how to order a book to be sent to me. The new strategies I used were Badke's research strategies to keyword search correctly as I would call it. For example the sheer symbols used when doing searching was a big help. There were no really big problems this week, however I feel as the class goes on I might run into some problems with trying to interpret and write conclusions. As week 6,7, and 8 approach I get excited because my topic is very interesting to me.

  1. Hi Jessica,
I finally responded to the comment you left me last week. Sorry for the late response. I agree that I learned a lot in Week 4. You mentioned that we can have a book sent to us to use for research. I remember reading that in one of the resources provided by Professor Chase. I was surprised to find that the library will mail the books directly to us. This may be useful in the future for me, as I am currently living in New York. I am often snowed-in at my house and having books mailed to me would be a life saver. I notice that I am leaving this comment on your Week 4 blog post. If you are having trouble this week (Week 5) finding empirical articles, I would suggest using "research" as a keyword when you are using the library databases. I had to call a librarian because I was having trouble finding an empirical article, and that was one tip she gave me. I am glad to see that your research process is moving along smoothly. Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks Ashley!

I did use your tip and its worked wonders for when finding information! Also that's so awesome that you live in NYC, I'm currently in CA and have never seen snow. I also like that we can have books mailed to us as well as articles. At my junior college we don't have a large library so to be able to access all these resources for Brandman University is awesome!
